A weekend on the rd

What a lovely weekend we had at the shop so much sun and so many lovely shoppers out and about. I think the flower sellers were pleased at last of the warmer weather its been a long winter for them.

I am having a nice day off today doing some homely type jobs and visiting my local shops for some nice food and also a little cooking later on I am making pastry to make a little pie for dinner time and also for the lunch box its always nice to have something yummy at the studio for lunch time.

Busy working on a couple of wedding comissions this week and also on Journals

I have just confirmed the text for Selvedge magazine they are doing a little feature on my work in the May issue so do keep an eye out for that.

Buddug is also busy creating and we are working on our next shop window plus we are going to put a bit of paint on the shop front as all this rain has made it look a bit faded especially the gold door.

Here's a few pictures of a show I was apart of in Munich in the jewellery festival they have there each year. There's a main hall were some exhibitions take place and all over the city there's exhibitions in shops, galleries and unusual buildings.

I exhibit with the group dialogue collective, last few years we have exhibited in a working foundry but this year we had a new venue. The building has 5 live-in studios and since the building was built in the 19th century it is only rented to craft makers. The current tenants have been there for 20 years, here is a few pics of the building....

I really liked the staircase, so requested to show my work there... We named our show 'Home and Away' and had to make 2 pieces of work to represent the theme.

The way I approached the subject  was to look at 'home and away' like 'life and death'. I used imagery and symbols associated to death memorabilia, such as the angel and flowers and made pins so the pieces became a remembrance of a life in the same way 'mourning jewellery' was used in the victorian times.

My second part of the exhibition was these bells, i did make some for the shop over the christmas period, but these bells are all different sizes and has different quotes that are memorable to different people I want to remembered.
