Casa Do Um Verdadeiro Artista....

Oi Pessoal

Here are some photos that I wanted to share with you of a very special placed that I discovered this morning while our walking.

I am currently spending some time in South East Brazil in a small town called Itapetininga ware the family of my Partner live and ware he grew up.
We are staying here in town for a few days with the family before we travel North East to a little Island for a few days to visit the beach and we are planing on taking some long walks accross the island and through some more interesting neighbourhoods.....
I have been here before but it is always an eye opening experience and the drive there is very interesting to
.

Anyhow I am very inspired by all the houses (Casas)here they are pretty amazing with little fences and hand made things everyware but non as amazing as this one who is the home of Picasso the sanfoneiro as he likes to call himself! he was very pleased to invite me in to his home and explained that it has taken him 26 years to collect all the items and to create this house....his only problem is that he is running out of room to add anymore....He comes out appologising to us many times saying he was busy tinkering with some things in the back yard and as we asked him are you the artist he replies YES THANK GOD.

Enjoy the Photos and I think J@B The shop may have some bits added to its exterior on my return

the last couple of weeks

Time has flown by since our last post....

Jessie and me have been very busy after painting, making orders and making valentine gifts and making decorations for our shop.
These cards are now available at Oriel Mostyn, if you live near or planning a visit to North Wales

We are also planning trips away, I'm part of the art group 'Dialogue Collective' (also on 'Facebook') and we are busy preparing new work for a show in Munich, we have had the same venue for 3 years now, an amazing old foundry, so we know the space but were trying to make it look different from the past years. Im really exited but i'm trying to edit and make sense of the work I'm going to make. I'm also the main organiser of the 'SHOPPery' (so half shop and half gallery) which is a retail section of the exhibition, sort of exit through the gift shop sort of thing. Preparing the layout and packaging so we know what we need to bring to Germany, because we only have 8hours to set up when we are there....

Anyway, enough computer work, off to make now....

New Painted Shop Front!

Last Thursday after lunch we decided on a whim to paint our shop. Jessie found some gold paint in the cupboard and started painting our front door....
this is the door without all the decorations....then we thought the pink doesn't really go with the gold so we painted the surrounding chocolate brown...which makes the shop really posh we thought!here's jessie doing the gold around the window...
me (buddug) doing the chocolate brown, the texture and colour of the paint was so like the chocolate syrup stuff you put on ice cream!

Jessie on the ladder painting the 'chocolate brownies' as she called the little squares on the top of the shop. So many people commented on jessie going on the ladder, i don't think they'd ever seen a girl on a ladder before!
It got quite dark in the day for us to photograph the shop front properly, when we finished. We also got little weird glances because it was actually dark when we finished. We just need to do one more gold coat round the window and we'll take some nice pictures of the result!

Happy Saturday!

New Journal for all those Memories and notes in 2012

Hello all a little note to say that I have just finished making those Journals that I mentioned I had started making after Christmas in Wales here are a few of them which are all available on our online shop. Plus there will be some very special wedding and Home Guest books coming soon.
I am hand embroidering on some gorgeous dusky rose silk for the bows on these books.

I hope everyone is enjoying the new year so far

Love from London

What a lovely letter...

Dear Jessie,

Not sure if you remember me I visited your lovely lovely shop one rainy Sunday afternoon in May with Julie Arkell. I bought (among other things) a matching vintage child's cardigan and skirt and the most wonderful carousel horse piece in a papier mache frame.

Thought you might like to see a pic of the cardigan - idea completely stolen from Julie herself, but since she suggested that's what I do with the cardigan I don't feel so bad about that!

Cannot wait to visit your shop again some time (I live in Malmö in Sweden so can't pop in as often as I'd like), really it was such a wonderful shopping experience. So thanks to you and Buddug!

Hope you had a great Christmas, and I wish you a very happy and successful 2012.

Cheers,
Sam
